Working to Grow the Good Jobs We Need

To remain a leader in the global economy, we must improve our nation’s business climate by eliminating excessive federal mandates, simplifying our tax code, reducing burdensome tax rates, and cutting wasteful spending.

I believe that part of what makes America great is having the opportunity to succeed through hard work, But today, economic opportunity is being stripped away as politicians in Washington continue to heap more oppressive taxes and burdensome red tape on America’s businesses—keeping them from growing, and killing jobs instead of creating new ones.

To remain a leader in the global economy, we must improve our nation’s business climate by eliminating excessive federal mandates, simplifying our tax code, reducing burdensome tax rates, and cutting wasteful spending.

I also believe that in order to ensure sustainable, long-term economic growth, we need to address not only unemployment, but under-employment as well. Too many Long Islanders are working two or three jobs just to make ends meet. This takes them away from their families and impedes their quality of life.

In Washington, I’ll fight every day, in every way I can, to ease regulatory burdens and free our businesses to do what they do best, without the chains of federal regulations and over-taxation — just as I did when I led the repeal of the MTA Payroll Tax for 80 percent of employers — and when I secured an agreement with the Assembly and Governor Cuomo to enable New York Brewers, large and small, like Blue Point Brewery and Great South Bay Brewery here in the 1st Congressional District, to continue to expand and create jobs.

And I’ll keep fighting to ensure that Long Island is a place where young adults can afford to start their families and seniors can afford to stay.
